The Mandarin 10th Ward reunion kicked off on Wednesday (6/24) evening. The first families to arrive were Ryan Lowe's family and Missy Lowe Gilbert's family. We met up at their hotel and went to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. It was great to kind of ease into the reunion. Thursday we would really get things rolling.

Thursday morning dawned HOT and sunny. The Lowes, Gilberts, Jon and I were off to visit St. Augustine. We met up with Steve Haddock and his family at the Fort. We spent most of the day together. After we enjoyed the Fort, we had some lunch in the historic part of St. Augustine. After lunch everyone split up for a few hours of family fun on their own.

Thursday night brought our kick-off picnic in the park. We met at the Julington Creek Plantation Park at 6:00pm. Everyone brought their own picnic food. The kids played on the play equipment and all the adults got reacquainted and visited. It was such a great time. We left at around 9:00pm for some rest; because Friday we were headed for the beach.

Friday at 10am we gathered at the church building to caravan to Mickler's Landing. We drove out and unpacked tons of beach gear. We spent several hours in the sun, sand and surf. Everyone headed home mid-afternoon to rest up for the adults only dinner that evening.

Friday night we all had dinner at The Tree Steak House. It was adults only and we had a Marvelous time. We had the opportunity to talk and visit without any interruptions. The service was good and the food was tasty.

Saturday morning everyone was up early for 9:00am basketball at the church. The guys had a great time playing. The girls (as always) watched from the sidelines. The kids came and enjoyed running and playing with each other.

Saturday afternoon the girls got together for a ladies lunch. We ate the Beach Diner. We had fun sitting and talking without the husbands.

Saturday was the BIG finale. We went to Dave and Busters. It was loads of fun for everyone. The kids were entertained with lots of games and the parents got to spend one last night visiting with each other.

We had sooooo much fun that we are already planning to do it again in 3 years. So, everyone go ahead and mark your calendars. We WILL be getting together for another Mandarin 10th Ward Youth Reunion in June 2012. Many of us discussed it and we think we want to cruise for the next reunion. So, start saving now... don't make any big vacation plans for the summer of 2012 because we want to see EVERYONE then! I will start working on the details next spring and I will be in touch! Until then... send me any updated family information, pictures or exciting news for the 10th Ward Blog. I will keep it updated with all info I receive. I love you all and I can't wait until we are together again!

Reunion Reminder

Don't forget... our 10th ward reunion is scheduled for Thursday, June 25th - Sunday, June 28th. At this point, I am trying to come up with a plan for the weekend. I know people will be coming in on Thursday and maybe some on Friday. I also know that some people have got a high school reunion that weekend in Jacksonville. If you have any ideas for fun things we could do while everyone is together I would love to hear about them. I also would love to start getting a count of how many people/families are planning to be here for the reunion. I am really hoping that everyone can make it. Please email me at ufcrazy@yahoo.com and R.S.V.P. as soon as possible. I am also going to work on getting a list of near-by hotels for anyone that needs that information. Also, remember that there are several people/families that reside in Jacksonville. You can always stay with friends to conserve on cash flow. Steve and Kiera live in Utah with their 3 children. Isaiah is 7, Matias is 4 and Sophia is 3. Steve works for Simtek Fencing and Kiera is a stay-at-home mom and also is an extremely talented photographer. She does quite a bit of work on the side. Isaiah just started 2nd grade and Matias and Sophia keep Kiera busy at home. Susan and her husband Rick have two children, Olivia 2 and Ben 4. They are doing great living in Atlanta, GA. Rick is a banker and Susan is a stay-at-home mom. Ben spends his time playing soccer, t-ball or any other sport. Olivia is 100% girl and enjoys her shoes, purses and baby dolls. James Hudgins' Family

James and his family live in Utah and love it except for the mountain snow they got last Monday! All of James and Jenn's kids are in school. Brianne, 14, is in the 9th grade; Austin , 12, is in the 7th; Lauren, 9, is in 4th; and Morgan, 5, is in kindergarten. James works for a pharmaceutical company and Jenn is a stay at home mom. Back to School Pictures

It is that time of year when everyone is heading back to school! If you have pictures of your kids starting school this year we would love to see them. I love looking at the pictures that are taken on the first day, when everyone is a little nervous and a lot excited! So, how 'bout it? Email me your kids first day pictures and I will post them on the blog; then everyone can see those beautiful smiling faces as they head off for a new year. Also, be sure to include what grade your kids are going into so I can put that info. on as well. Good Luck kids! Have an AWESOME year!

I was able to "borrow" a couple of back to school pics off my two Best Friends blogs. I am sure they don't mind me getting this back to school picture post started with their beautiful kids.

This picture is of Ryan and Nichole Lowe's son Tyler. Tyler is one of the "Coolest" kids I have ever met! He started 2nd grade a couple of weeks ago and I know he is loving it.

Next, is Todd and Nicol (Lewis) Leckie's oldest child, Amara. Amara is also starting the 2nd grade this year, and she too is one "cool" kid. As last reported by Nicol, she loves her class and her teachers. I am sure Amara is going to have a great year!

Reunion Update...

Hello all you wonderful Mandarin 10th Ward friends! I have just updated the blog and look forward to receiving many more family pictures and information. I have heard from some of you and we are still waiting to hear from many more of you! We want pictures and updates... Come on you can do it! The kids are headed back to school and everyone is rested and tanned from the long, lazy days of summer. Now is a perfect time to get the camera out and get me a picture.

Alas, I digress. This post is really to let everyone know that I have come up with the dates for the reunion next summer. I know it seems a long way off... but trust me; it is just around the corner! So, without further ado... the dates for the weekend reunion are - Thursday, June 25th - Sunday, June 28th, 2009. All the kids should be well out of school by then and vacations should be at hand. I hope that EVERYONE can put this long weekend on your calendars and start planning to be here. I will be working on what we will be doing (that is organized) and if anyone needs information on places to stay... I will be gathering that as well. What would a Mandarin 10th ward blog be without Jim and Teresa Moye? Nothing I tell you, absolutely NOTHING! So, here is the info I have on "The Moyes". Jim and Teresa have been living in Alaska for the last five years. They recently moved back to the SOUTH and are currently residing in Fayetteville, Georgia. (How many of you are surprised? None I am sure!) Jim is working in Georgia and Teresa is traveling with him when he has business out of town. They are happy to be closer to home and they are enjoying their time together. Okay, I need everyone's help to finish up collecting email addresses of our old Tenth Ward friends. I have been quite successful for the most part and I am trying to tie up all the loose ends before diving head first into planning the reunion. By checking the poll on the blog I am sure we will have the reunion in Jacksonville; not on a cruise ship. The vote for coming back to Jax is overwhelming. I have been thinking of several different ideas and fun activities for the reunion but if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears.

Now, for the help I so desperately need. Below you will find a list of people that I am still trying to find. I know many of you keep in contact with at least one of these people and I need to have their email address ASAP! Okay, so I can tell by checking the blog that you guys are checking it too. But, here is the real question...Why won't you send me your family pics so there is NEW stuff to look at? The vote is is going great on where to have the reunion but, I am starting to feel nervous because if you won't even send me a picture of your beautiful family (Yes, you all have beautiful families!) Then, HOW, Oh HOW can we ever plan a reunion. So, come on... you can do it. It is summer, the kids are out of school, you have some extra time I know you do! Ryan Lowe's Family

Ryan and Nichole Lowe live in Gilbert, Arizona. They have two children. Tyler is 7 and Kate is 8 months. Ryan owns his own appraisal company Bravado Appraisals. Nichole spends her days taking care of Kate and making sure that Tyler gets to school and all his extra activities such as sports, scouts and primary activities. I want to put together the best blog out there for all of us Mandarin 10th Ward youth. I have asked lots of people to send me current family pictures, as well as any old pictures that I can upload onto the blog. If you have any pictures you want me to put on the blog, just send them my way. I am super excited to be able to get everyone back in contact with each other. Welcome to the Mandarin 10th Ward blog! I am so excited to kick this thing off. Nicol Leckie (Lewis), Ginger Cronin (Woodward), Charlotte Sheider (Brasiel) and I, Kim Brody (Hillard) have been talking about putting together a Mandarin 10th Ward reunion for a few years now. We have discussed what to do and how to do it. Finally, we have decided that it is time for action. I am looking so forward to hearing from everyone and catching up on what everyone is doing. I am also hard at work on planning a reunion for us. More details will be coming.
